The parish is concerned about the community it serves and undertakes a variety of outreach activities.

  • The parish liaises with a number of local aid agencies.  Select Local Aid Agencies to see a list. 
  • The parish and the Philemon Fellowship sponsor children and projects through World Vision and Save the Children.
  • Session makes a monthly monetary contribution to worthy charitable groups within the community, while income from a bequest is given to various charities each year.
  • Napier Ministers’ Network meeting and working with churches in the Napier/Taradale area.
  • The parish supports the Global Mission and Mission Box with monetary donations over and above those made by parishioners.

The Napier Family Centre operates from the former St Stephen’s complex in the suburb of Onekawa. It was established 25 years ago by the inner city parishes to provide counselling, social work, parenting advice and budgeting services for the more vulnerable members of the community.

Inner-City Covenant. In 1987 the four Inner-City Churches, Trinity Methodist, St John’s Anglican, St Patrick’s Roman Catholic and St Paul’s Presbyterian signed a covenant. This committed these churches to do together all they could and not to do apart what they could do together. The covenant led to holding combined Lenten observances, an annual Civic Service and an annual luncheon, as well as “one off” events. The covenant is renewed every five years
