A few things that got us thinking…
There are two very different stories about a man called Lazarus (see Luke 16:19 for the other one). Is there any significance to the name? It seems as though the name comes from the Hebrew name Eleazar which means ‘the one God helps”

Why did Jesus cry if he knew what was going to happen next? What do you think?

What do you think it would have been like to be Lazarus, called out from death?

What do you think happened to Lazarus after he was raised from death? What would you like to have happen? See John 12 for some of the reaction to his being raised from death.

Apparently, Roman Catholic and Orthodox traditions speculate on what his life might have been like. Click here for some background on that question.

Sadly, I only get to preach one of the many sermons which could be preached on this text. Come along on Sunday and see which one it is!
